4/23/12-Structure Fire In First Due

Author:Kellen Klee
On April 23rd at 14:06, companies 33, 32(Walnuttown), 45(Fleetwood), 46(Kutztown), and 535(Fleetwood EMS), were dispatched to Misty Lane in Richmond Township for a structure fire. Engine 33 with Lieutenant 33-1 and Tanker 33 responded and Lieutenant 33-1 was advised of a mobile home on fire with flames showing from the structure with everyone out. A second alarm with three aditional tankers was called bringing in crews from 11(Temple), 40(Shoemakersville), 21(Topton), 34(Ruscombmanor), and 44(Kempton). Engine 33 and Lieutenant 33-1 arrived first and found it to be a one story mobile home with an addition well involved. The residence was also back a long dirt road with only one way in to access it. 2000 feet of 5 inch was dropped by other incoming engines and a tanker shuttle was started. Engine 45 pulled in behind Engine 33 and supplied it from the five inch line. Attack lines were used from Engine 33 and the fire was knocked down soon after fire attack began. Crews were on scene for about two and a half hours.
