3/1/12-Tractor Trailer MVA on Interstate

Author: Kellen Klee
On March 1st at 22:17 hours, companies 33 and 545(Hamburg EMS) were dispatched to Interstate 78 eastbound at mile post 36.4 for a motor vehicle accident unknown injuries. Rescue and Engine 33 were on the street shortly after dispatch. Units responded were advised of a tractor trailer that struck the center median. Chief 33 arrived first and reported one tractor trailer leaking diesel fuel and also a car involved in the west bound lanes that had been struck by pieces of concrete from the center divider. EMS cleared the scene after it was determined there were no injuries. Crews from the rescue contained the diesel fuel spill from the tractor trailer until it was removed. Crews had the left lane shut down on the east and west bound sides until Penndot removed the damaged concrete dividers. Crews cleared the scene about four hours into the incident.
