1/10/12-Diesel Fuel Spill On The Interstate

On January 10th just before 05:00 hours, companies 46(Kutztown), 33, and 590(Kutztown EMS) were dispatched to Interstate 78 westbound near mile post 36.9 in Greenwich Township to assist PSP on location with a disabled tractor trailer leaking diesel fuel. Rescue 33 responded with four and Deputy 33-3 was the first on location and reported an active leak from a saddle tank. Chief 46 arrived shortly after and established Greenwich command and reported about 50 gallons down with no water ways affected. Crews from both companies contained and cleaned up the spill with booms, pillows, pads, and oil dry while members from 46 plugged the hole in the saddle tank. Crews cleared the scene within an hour.
