12/26/11-Vehicle Into Tree With Entrapment

On December 26th, companies 40(Shoemakersville), 33, and 545(Hamburg EMS), were dispatched to Onyx Cave Rd. in Perry Township for an accident with injuries one vehicle into a tree. Responding units were advised of two patients and the caller was now advising there was entrapment. Company 670(Schuylkill Valley EMS) was added to the assignment due to the additional report. Deputy 40-1 arrived and confirmed entrapment. Rescue 33 and Engine 33 responded and after arrival the crew from the rescue assisted with extricating the patients while the crew from the engine set up a protection line. Crews from 40 and 33 removed the driver's side doors and B post and also the roof to extricate the patients. The two patients were extricated from the vehicle a short time later and transported to the hospital by ground.
