Author: Kellen Klee
On October 27th at 20:36 hours, companies 32(Walnuttown), 33, 12(Blandon), 46(Kutztown), 34(Ruscombmanor), and 535(Fleetwood EMS) were dispatched to Penn Detroit Diesel on Route 222 in Richmond Township for a structure fire. Responding units were advised the call came from an employee who stated the building was on fire. Deputy 33 arrived on location first and reported a working fire in a boiler room in a one story attachment to the rear of the two story main building with fire showing along the roof line. Engine 45(Fleetwood) was added to set up a fill site for tankers. Command was established and arriving crews vented the roof and pulled attack lines. The fire was knocked down in a short time and crews found some minor extension to the second floor of the main building. Ladder, Tanker, and Rescue 33 responded and assisted at the scene. Crews from company 33 assisted with overhaul and fire suppression before clearing the scene at 22:20 hours.
